Wulai, the largest as well as the southernmost town of Taipei County, is situated on the northern part of Mount Syue, It is the highest spot amongst Taipei basin and is surrounded by mountains and rivers The total town area of Wulai is about 321 square kilometers, which enjoys 15.6% of the total Taipei County area.
